5 steps to apply your nail polish

How can you make your nail polish last for 4 to 5 days and still have well-groomed and protected nails? We've prepared an advice sheet with our manicure experts.

Materials needed:

A nail file
A polisher
A cuticle oil
A wooden stick to push back cuticles
A base
A nail polish
A top coat
Cotton pads or cotton buds
Nail polish remover

Estimated time: 30 to 45 minutes

1) File your nails

We like cardboard files, or more eco-responsible glass files. The latter file the nails less quickly but have the merit of protecting them but above all of lasting in time. Basically, once you buy one, you can keep it for years.

In order not to break the nails, file the edges and then finish by giving the desired shape (round, rounded or square)

2) Care

You can apply a cuticle oil afterwards to push them back. This will soften the cuticles and make the procedure easier. At home, we do not recommend cutting cuticles as this can lead to infection and pain. It is important to take care of your cuticles, as they protect the nail matrix

If you have a lot of dry or damaged skin and you are equipped, you can use a cuticle cutter very carefully.

3) Apply a base coat

The base coat has two functions: to protect your nails and to prolong your manicure.

The important thing is to let it dry well before applying the varnish

4) Apply 2 coats of varnish

The first coat of varnish should be thin.

You can start by applying the brush in the middle of the nail, then on each side to finish.

Before applying the second coat, make sure your varnish has dried thoroughly.

Repeat the first operation, applying a thin layer, always from the middle, from the base of the nail to the tip.

5) Finish with a coat of top coat

The 5th step is to apply a touch of top coat. It is best to wait until your nails are dry before finishing your manicure with it!

Tip Soak several cotton swabs and cotton pads with acetone-free nail polish remover before you start applying your polish. This will allow you to finish the corrections at the end of the application, without any accident!
